Pastoral & Inclusion Support Worker
PURPOSE OF JOB:
- To work as a member of schools pastoral and inclusion team
- To provide support for students so they can thrive academically, emotionally and socially
- To ensure every student makes outstanding progress through the provision of targeted support and intervention
- Managing students behaviour and attendance issues
- Dealing with parents
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
Student Progress: This aspect is primarily the responsibility of the Head of Years. However it is envisaged that the Pastoral and Inclusion Support Worker will assist in ensuring that all aspects of Pupil Progress are managed effectively, as below:
- Assist Pastoral leaders in the necessary actions and interventions as a result of poor performance and or behaviour
- Observe, support and monitor targeted students.
- Manage Rewards and Sanctions: in line with school policy.
- Liaison and team working with Attendance Team
- Liaison and team working with the Wellbeing lead.
- The enforcement of sanctions and discipline for students in accordance with school policy.
The nature of the role is such that flexibility and self-motivation are crucial to success.
- Daily liaison with the LSC manager regarding students and daily compilation of work
- Management of behavioural issues that arise throughout the day
- Contact with parents as necessary
- Facilitate conflict resolution meetings between staff and students as and when required
- Work on school attendance as necessary
- Managing and following up on all detentions especially relocations and lateness.
- Collection and management of the delivery of work for absent and excluded students.
- Supporting the Pastoral and Inclusion system by undertaking other duties e.g. overseeing students who are included, covering for colleagues where necessary.
The above duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required by the Headteacher within the grading level of the post and the competence of the post holder.
