Overview

This role is part of the P3MO (Portfolio, programme and project management office). This role is seconded into project to ensure technical delivery according to time, cost, quality alongside the core project team (project manager and technical lead).

This role is key for ensuring the project transition through the technical delivery life cycle (concept to design to bills of materials management to procurement and assembly)

Requirements
  • Work alongside the Project Manager and Technical Lead/Chief engineer to provide engineering delivery leadership to the project team
  • Ensure that planned activities and deliverables are completed by suppliers and internal engineering teams to schedule
  • Help to generate and maintain project technical documentation and participate in continuous improvement activities both at project and business level, apply system thinking where required
  • Capture requirements applying validation and verification translating requirements into deliverables and project objectives, able to track the progress of satisfying the requirements
  • Ensure project documentation is established according to the project and programme management processes (eg requirements, project plans, finances, system FMEAs, design release approvals, risk register, change management documentation)
  • Identify project risks and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure suitable mitigation plans are in place and coordinate business discussions to resolve any time, cost or specification changes where necessary
  • Ensure lessons learnt are captured and shared appropriately
  • Promote adherence to safe working practices in the delivery of project activities ensuring design per safety is understood and follow from conception to operation
  • Appreciation of engineering standards and application to technical delivery through life cycle of project
Requirements
  • Appropriate experience in delivering complex technology, product and / or infrastructure programmes.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Project and/or other Agile programme management tools (e.g., JIRA, Redmine, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience of engineering design and/or software development processes
  • Empathetic and able to form a strong network of effective relationships across the organisation.
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to report project status, issues and plans concisely and effectively in different forums.
  • Proactive and energetic and able to support and motivate the team to progress with good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A great organiser and planner with experience of resource and budget setting and management
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to deal with ambiguity.
