One-to-One Tuition - English

Whickham School wishes to appoint one to one tutors with expertise in English.

We have a proven system that identifies the needs of pupils and we will support you to help pupils’ make rapid improvements. We will provide training and support before you work with our pupils and you will be guided by subject teachers throughout the course of tutoring.

The ideal candidate(s) will have the ability to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of each learner and must have good core subject knowledge. You must be open minded / non-judgemental and have the ability to build a rapport quickly in order to achieve the best results.

1:1 tutor for English

The successful candidate person needs to:

• Tutor for 6-8 hours per week, tutoring GCSE students in English Language

Essential:

• Recent teaching / tutoring experience in GCSE English Language

Desirable:

Hold qualified teacher status, or are a qualified HE or FE teacher.

Have experience of teaching AQA GCSE English and English Literature to include 'War and Conflict', 'Jekyll and Hyde' and 'Macbeth' texts.

The ability to work electronically using conferencing software (Teams )

Teach in person.

Successful candidates will be required to undertake enhanced DBS checks.

Suitable for NQTs: Yes

These roles mirror the national teaching programme and therefore are pensionable under the LGPS. The rates quoted include holiday pay.
