Complex Arrangements Invigilator
The Complex Arrangements Invigilator runs the exam in the individual room and provides support to the student.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as invigilator: Run the exam in the individual room
Maintain exam conditions- Ensure the student’s reasonable adjustments are implemented
- Ensure exam scripts and materials are returned to the Exams Team after the exam
- Additional specialised support (you will be asked if you are willing to cover these roles):
- Scribe – writes or types answers exactly as dictated by the student
- Reader – reads text aloud as directed by the student
- Oral Language Modifier – rephrases question paper wording if requested by the student
- Prompter – provides non-academic prompts to the student as requested (e.g. time remaining)
Hours/availability: Morning invigilation slots start at 8.25am and afternoon invigilation slots start at 1.25pm.
University of Reading exams vary in length from 1 to 3 hours and most students with complex reasonable adjustments are allowed extra time and/or rest breaks, so finishing times will vary.
Most exams for students with complex reasonable adjustments are finished by 6pm but occasionally an invigilator may need to work later than this due to the complexity of a student’s arrangements.
Invigilators must remain on duty until the end of the exam they are covering.
