**Person Specification**

A support worker is invited to a man in early 30s who has autism and learning disability. You will join a well-established team that provides one-to-one support in mans home in Cambridge. They support the man in his everyday living skills, engage him in community and social enterprises, encourage his physical activities and assure safe and predictable environment.

The post is funded by the direct payment from the local authorities and managed by man's parent. Therefore, the employer cannot act as a sponsor for the skilled worker visa applicants.

This is a permanent post, subject to two references, the 3 months probationary period and an enhanced DBS certificate.

**Qualifications and Work Experience**

Experience of working with learning disabilities and autism in residential setting is preferable, although full training will be given. The right to work in UK as self-employed worker, Enhanced DBS check and references are required.

We are looking for a reliable, punctual, caring, friendly and well organised person with excellent communication skills and good level of English and Math. You will have ability to use your own initiative, make decisions and at the same time work in accordance with the support plan, the team and man's parents.

We also request for the wiliness to travel with the client in your own car and a clean driving licence, and the good local knowledge.

**About the Service User**

Support worker is invited for the active man in his 30s who has autism and learning disability. He is non-verbal. The man is friendly and fun loving, he likes computers, cycling, swimming, ice-skating, eating out, music and gardening. He attends garden nurseries twice a week where he loves working physically.

He also loves to spend afternoons chilling out in front of TV. His daily routine is important for him and he prefers to know in advance what is happening during the day. The man requires supervision and direction in the most of day-to-day tasks, but no hands-on care is required.

** Job Description**

Support worker would join an established team of four people providing 24/7 care in mans home. They help the man with his everyday living skills, cooking, housekeeping, shopping, engage him in community and social enterprises, encourage his physical activities and assure healthy, safe and predictable environment.

They travel with the man in their own car to social enterprises and other places. The support workers work one-to-one with man and yet work as a close team communicating constantly to provide consistent care.

The new support worker will undergo a full induction process and shadowing shifts to introduce them to the daily routine and carer duties and have help and support from the rest of the team and the man's parents.

We are looking to cover two day and one night shifts total 25 hrs per week. Day shift is from 10 am to 7 pm. Night shift is from 7 pm to 10 am and consist of 7 wake and 8 sleep-in hours. Sleep-in paid £40.44 per night; Wake hours £14.44 per hour. Shifts will be at weekdays and at weekends.

The weekends are shared equally with two other support workers. The day shifts are self-employed, but for the night shifts you would have to enrol as an agency's night staff, but would work only with your client.
