The Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR) is part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a centre of excellence in delivering high quality applied and clinical research that improves lives not only for the Bradford population but nationally and beyond.It accommodates many clinical and non-clinical research teams including National Institute for Health Research infrastructure and centres, a clinical research facility with a number of research outpatient rooms, informal and formal meeting rooms/ spaces, and has recently been extended to create a new reception and waiting area for research participants/ patients and visitors.
Based in this new area the postholder will have day-to-day responsibility for the management of the reception area and will provide a full reception service for the BIHR. As the first point of contact for patients, staff and visitors to the building the postholder must have a professional appearance and manner with excellent interpersonal skills.
The role will provide an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to be involved in the on-going running of a new, purpose- built reception area.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the BIHR reception from an administrative point of view. Manning a reception and waiting area, the postholder will be the first point of contact within the facility and therefore they will have a large impact on the research patient/ participant and visitor experience.
Applicants must possess excellent computer, keyboard and administrative skills, be highly organised and able to prioritise own workload and have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You must have had previous experience of working in an administrative role and co-ordinating the work of a unit/ department as well as experience in a customer contact role.The successful candidate will have a friendly and professional manner, be enthusiastic and self-motivated adopting a flexible approach to work. Previous experience working in a research and/ or reception environment would be useful.

Experience
Essential criteria- • Previous experience of working in an administrative role (at least 2 years’ experience)
- • Experience in a customer contact role, demonstrating experience of dealing with public
- • Experience of co-ordinating the work of a Unit/ department
- • Working in a research environment
- • Previous experience of working in a reception environment • Previous NHS experience
