The Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is actively seeking an experienced Specialty Doctor to become part of their Adult Community Mental Health Team in Mid Cornwall.

As part of the wider Community Mental Health Transformation initiative, services are evolving towards new local operational models that emphasize the primary care interface and a novel 'core model' for mental health care. This role offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to influence service development alongside their clinical responsibilities.

We invite individuals who are passionate about service development to apply, including those nearing completion of MRCPsych or those with substantial experience contemplating the Specialist Registration pathway route.

The appointee will serve as the Specialty Doctor for individuals aged 18 and above, referred by the multidisciplinary team, by delivering outpatient services within the designated area.

This role will likely encompass a mix of in-person consultations at outpatient clinics, home visits, and the use of alternative technologies such as phone consultations and video conferencing software (specifically ‘Attend Anywhere’ as utilised by the Trust).

A Consultant Psychiatrist will supervise the clinical work of the doctors.

Participation in the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) multidisciplinary meetings is required to discuss both new referrals and ongoing patient cases.

The appointee will assist in the development and management of complex cases and offer support to other team members.

The incumbent is expected to foster strong collaborative relationships with inpatient service colleagues regarding patient care within their region. Moreover, maintaining a close connection with the Home Treatment Team is essential for the medical management of patients in the catchment area.

The post holder must either be approved under Section 12 (2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 or be eligible and prepared to undergo training to achieve this accreditation.
