We are looking for an excellent forensic or clinical psychologist band 8a to join FOLS in a senior clinical leadership role, helping to build on our early successes and further develop our unique offer.

The Psychologist is a highly regarded role integral to the effective functioning of the FOLS team, working collaboratively across disciplines to support safe, effective, and evidence-driven practice in this complex and rewarding field. Excellent skills in consultancy and clinical leadership are essential, as is a working knowledge of new developments in practice, theory, and research related to the reasons why people become involved with – and desist from – harmful behaviour.

A commitment to the continued development of a psychologically minded workforce is essential.

The successful candidate must therefore have extensive experience of using and interpreting relevant psychometric assessments and structured professional judgement tools in risk assessment and management, as well as highly developed skills in communicating and formulating complex ideas and risk management plans.

The post would ideally suit someone with a strong background in forensic psychology, inpatient, or prison systems, who is excited about resettlement and diversion and the opportunity to build on the models that have so far been implemented, and who also wants to retain their own caseload of patients with highly complex needs.

FOLS are based in Doncaster, and cover Rotherham, Doncaster, and Sheffield

Candidates should be psychologically robust, patient centered, able to demonstrate initiative and enjoy working in a busy and dynamic service. Strong team working, organizational and time management skills are essential.

There will be a need for the candidate to hold a caseload and practice clinically providing psychological assessments, interventions and support to identified clients, whilst also supporting the team of practitioners to deliver psychologically based assessments and interventions.

To enable decisions and evaluation to be collaboratively made within the team regarding client treatment whilst considering theoretical and therapeutic models and also the highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes shaping individuals.

A main duty will be to provide a highly specialised forensic and challenging behaviour expertise giving psychological advice, guidance and consultation to professionals, stakeholders, clients, independent providers and the team.

To ensure that all members of the team has access to psychologically based frameworks to understand and support clients with learning disability who present with challenging and offending behaviour and disseminate knowledge appropriately to ensure high standards of care delivery.

To provide clinical supervision and training within team and to wider professionals groups as part of the team caseload management.
