Medical Laboratory Assistant-Pathology | East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust
We are recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Assistant who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant in Pathology, duties will include receipting of samples, inputting pathology requests on a computer system and supporting the Biomedical Scientists.
The role will involve the handling of pathology samples such as blood, urine and swabs.
Staff will be required to work flexibly, within a 24hrs shift system, this will also involve 4hr weekend shifts as part of a rota.

Perform a range of routine healthcare science activities under supervision, e.g. sample preparation and storage
Maintain clinical records in relation to activities carried out.
To work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include an extended working day and/or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.
The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, and respiratory secretions.
