International Tax Senior Manager, Treasury and FinancialServices Group

Amazon is seeking an internationaltax planning senior manager in either London or Luxembourg for theAmazon International Tax Planning Group supporting Amazon Treasuryand broader financial services matters. The senior manager willreport into the U.S. international tax planning group and shouldhave international tax expertise as well as a background dealingwith tax issues related to corporate treasury functions.

The seniormanager will help drive significant initiatives with otherinternational tax team members and business partners. This rolewill operate with a large level of independence and the applicantwill be expected to demonstrate a high level of collegiality infunctioning as a technical tax adviser and project supervisor inthis exciting and challenging role.

The successful candidate shouldhave experience in delivering on treasury focused projects. Theywill have demonstrated an exceptional bias for action and abilityto drive projects forward despite ambiguity. The candidate willoften be required to dive deep to remove roadblocks and carefullymanage scope to deliver results on large scale and complex projectswhile still earning trust across many functions and stakeholderswith executive level visibility andsponsorship.

Primary dutiesinclude but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide tax guidance and drive Amazon'streasury group's initiatives. Tax guidance should be from criticalthought and from working with the broader Amazon tax group todetermine cross tax considerations.
  • Drive analysis ontreasury matters such as currency and FX considerations, hedging,internal and external debt issuances, cash pool management,treasury systems, and cross-functional implications on executingtreasury initiatives.
  • Assist with tax issue spotting,and addressing related inquiries for treasury projects (e.g.discrete projects, financial instruments, cash pools, equity anddebt funding, distributions, currency considerations).
  • Work with Amazon's other support functions as needed with designingand implementing optimal liquidity managementstructures.
  • Assist with driving a subset of theinternational tax driven structuring initiatives as relates totreasury support and liquidity management.
  • Assistwith evaluating business proposals to identify fundingstrategies.
  • Assist with various local country taxreform considerations relevant for the treasury supportfunction.
  • Prepare and review comprehensive technicaldocumentation/memos that contain well-reasoned, supported, andclear conclusions.
  • Communicate complex tax concepts inways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals.
  • Work with outside tax advisors.
  • Workclosely with members of the global tax department.
  • Manage and drive projects.
  • Gain a deep understandingof (a) business initiatives, models, goals, and drivers (b) thestructure and attributes (c) funding history and unique countryrequirements (d) significant past, present, and proposed planninginitiatives.
BASICQUALIFICATIONS - Significant years' experience in alarge corporate environment and/or public accounting or large lawfirm.
  • Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CA (Chartered Accountant) or equivalent, Masters in Tax orMasters of Law with tax specialization
  • Understandingof the international tax provisions of either European or USinternational tax laws.
  • Previous expertise withTreasury matters such as FX considerations, hedging, internal andexternal debt issuances, cash pool management, Treasury systems,and cross-functional implications on executing Treasuryinitiatives.
  • Understanding of accountingconcepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully leadcomplex, milestone driven projects - including the ability to workeffectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellentanalytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienceleading innovative, game-changing teams, programs, andprojects.
  • Experience developing and improving policiesand processes.
  • Experience delivering results amidstresource constraints and ambiguity.
