Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Paediatric Waiting List Team as a Team Leader.

The Paediatric Team are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to a 9 month secondment working as a Team Leader within our Waiting List team based at Royal Derby Hospital working 37.5 hours per week.

The post holder will be a motivated team player with excellent communication skills both verbally and written, along with exceptional problem solving and advanced organisational skills.

The post holder will be required to work independently using high level of initiative to manage and prioritise a busy workload independently without direct supervision.

You will support the existing Operational Co-ordinators and Pathway Coordinators in providing a quality and efficient service to Paediatric Consultant staff and visiting Surgeons as well as being responsible for the management of the waiting list and WNB teams ensuring a friendly and efficient service is being provided to patients, visitors and clinicians.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a motivated team player, with excellent communication skills both verbally and written, along with exceptional problem solving and advanced organisational skills. You’d be responsible for the management of the waiting list team ensuring a friendly and efficient service is being provided to patients, visitors and Clinicians.

Applicants must be confident communicators with the ability to liaise with all staff .

Essential qualities include strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure; with the ability to prioritise work duties and responsibilities effectively, day to day management and running of the waiting list team.

You will have a broad range of administrative skills including:

  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of secretarial or administrative procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Thorough knowledge of the 18 week RTT process
  • Experience of using IT systems such as Outlook, Excel, Lorenzo and ORMIS
  • Excellent organisational skills
