A highly reputable and growing primary school in Earith, Huntingdon is seeking a dedicated and proactive Caretaker to join its permanent staff from April 2025 or sooner. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a welcoming school community, supporting the smooth running of the school environment and ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained setting for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the general maintenance and security of the school premises.
- Conduct routine inspections, minor repairs, and general upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
- Manage site safety, including fire alarm testing, risk assessments, and health and safety compliance.
- Liaise with external contractors and oversee maintenance works when required.
- Ensure the school remains clean, tidy, and free of hazards.
- Open and close the school premises as part of keyholder responsibilities.
- Support staff with setting up rooms and facilities for events and activities.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience in a caretaking, site management, or facilities role (preferably in an educational setting).
- Possess basic DIY and maintenance skills.
- Be reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated.
- Have a good understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check.
