AV & THEATRE TECHNICIAN
The Royal Hospital School is looking for a passionate and versatile AV & Theatre Technician to join our thriving performing arts team. This is a particularly exciting time to join RHS: September 2025 sees the reopening of our fully refurbished Assembly Hall, and the department is preparing for a major production of Les Misérables in November 2025.
The role offers the chance to work alongside talented Drama and Music colleagues and pupils in a nationally recognised performing arts setting. You’ll support productions, concerts, academic lessons and promotional events with technical expertise, creativity and care.This is an ideal opportunity for a technician with specialist knowledge in theatre lighting or sound, who enjoys working with young people and has the confidence to take the lead on a wide range of AV and performance-based projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and operating AV and theatre facilities across the School
- Supporting and advising staff and pupils on AV systems and technical requirements
- Delivering all technical aspects of school productions, events, and performances
- Supporting the creative development of pupils’ performance work
- Leading or assisting extra-curricular AV and technical theatre activities
- Maintaining and managing AV, lighting, and staging equipment
What we're looking for:
- Practical knowledge of theatre lighting, sound, and AV systems
- Experience working on live performance and events
- A positive, flexible approach with strong organisational skills
- Creativity and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting pupil performance
- (Desirable) Experience in a school or similar educational environment
