The Outpatients Department at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is housed in a modern purpose-built building which covers two floors at the front of the hospital; and is very much the front door to the care and services provided by Trust.

The department consists of consultation and treatment rooms, an injection suite and off-site clinics based in primary care settings. There is opportunity for variety in your working day including running diverse clinics and involvement with specialist teams.

The current operational hours of the Outpatient Department are Monday to Saturday, 08:00-20:00 with a planned schedule to provide seven days working.

In addition, we run specialist nurse led dressing clinics where you will work alongside the doctors and multidisciplinary team providing wound care and the knowledge to promote wound healing. In our injection suite you will gain experience in supporting patients undergoing minor procedures, ensuring smooth admission, treatment and safe discharge.

You will also assist with our walk-in spinal service where you will support patients who may require emergency surgery.

We are a fantastic and friendly multidisciplinary team with lots to learn from each other. Staff have told us we are ‘kind patient teachers’ that we make them feel ‘welcomed and supported’ that ‘work is varied, with each day providing new and exciting challenges.’ The team put their ‘personality into professionalism’ and say they are ‘proud to work in the outpatient department’.

  • Ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner, reflecting the values and ethos of The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Be responsible for assessing care needs of patients. Planning, implementation and the evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision.
  • Practice autonomously and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate, person centred care.

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest specialist orthopaedic units in Europe. We offer planned orthopaedic surgery to people locally, nationally and internationally.

Our Trust is a very special hospital; big enough to deliver world class services and small enough to offer exceptional patient and staff experience. We offer a working experience unique in the West Midlands and we're always on the lookout for passionate people to join our award-winning team.

The ROH is an equal opportunities employer. We employ people of difference and are committed to growing an inclusive culture, where difference is celebrated, and people feel able to bring their whole and authentic self to work.

We are a Disability Confident Leader and offer a range of inclusive, family friendly and flexible working arrangements and policies, to support our people in the workplace. Flexible working requests will be considered.

The Trust is committed to the Disability Confident Interview Scheme and will offer an interview to disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a vacancy and consider them on their abilities.

If you have a disability and need any support with your application or require any reasonable adjustments to be implemented please do get in touch with the Recruiting Manager for this position so that the team can support you.
