- 5 hours per week at £13.00 per hour plus one overnight at £110.80 per night from Sunday evening until Monday afternoon. Plus any annual leave cover for the other PA's.
A gentleman who has Multiple Sclerosis and “severe” vision is seeking a Personal Assistants to provide support for all aspects of his daily/night routine. Advice can be given to the new Personal Assistant by vision impairment officer regards how this impacts the gentleman.
Are you outgoing and friendly and passionate about your work, if so you could be the ideal caring Personal Assistants that is required to support a quiet, gentle natured gentleman. Training on MS will be given. Support the gentleman with accessing the local community.This gentleman likes to listen to music or just sit quietly with the right person. To encourage the gentleman to develop friendships, activities and Interests and assist with crosswords. Accompany and support with medical appointments. Gentleman has a wheelchair accessible vehicle with motorised pulley.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- Providing for the personal care needs of the employer, such as washing and toileting.
- All support is needed with nutrition and drink prep and support to cut up the employers food and assist with feeding some foods.
- Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence
- Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
- Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills
- To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction
- Encouraging the employer to attend appointments
- Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
- To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.

- Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
- Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer.
- To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Job Working Environment: Working in employer’s homes and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:- Caring, patient and friendly.
- Responsible, reliable and honest.
- Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Has good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
- Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
- Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
- Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
- Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
- Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
