King Richard’s School (KRS) is one of 21 Ministry Of Defence Schools and Early Years Settings providing education for the children of Defence Personnel (service and civilian) serving overseas. It is a small but vibrant 11-18 secondary school serving the military community in British Forces Cyprus.
We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Teacher of Geography. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team whose culture and activity are driven by the core belief that every child should achieve their potential
Job Description

The key areas of responsibility for this role include:
- Plan and deliver high-quality geography lessons that cater to diverse student abilities and interests.
- Promote the school’s core values among students.
- Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage students in active learning.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities and educational visits.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate geography with other areas of the curriculum.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and achievements.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes a love for physical activity.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding PE curriculum and student progress.
- Participate actively in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- To make a full contribution to the wider life of the School and Community.
- To set high expectations for all students, to deepen their knowledge and understanding to maximise their achievement.
- To model positive behaviour management strategies in an environment of mutual respect which allows students to feel safe and secure and promotes self-esteem.
- To contribute to the routine administrative work of the school and department and support and enable others to provide an engaging curriculum.
- To assess and record student progress giving positive and effective feedback that improves the learning of students in line with school policies and to take part fully in the School’s reporting framework.
- To engage fully with whole school improvement cycles including individual performance reviews.
- To carry out any reasonable requests made by the Headteacher in line with the Teacher’s Pay and Conditions of service.
- To work effectively with the Assistant Headteacher (Pupil Support) as a form tutor or mentor.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have successfully completed induction.
Evidence of qualifications will be required at interview. All qualifications declared must be held at the point of application and if applicable, be in date.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience teaching geography at the secondary school level, demonstrating effective pedagogical skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging geography lessons that cater to diverse student abilities.
- Competence in assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Organisational skills to manage resources, and extracurricular activities.
- Commitment to promoting a love of geography for our students.
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures and health & safety regulations related to geography and educational visits.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in geography or related field.
Teaching Qualification/Certification appropriate for Art or related field (e.g., QTS, PGCE)
