Your role and responsibilities

Your role will be based at our ABB Furse facility in Nottingham. Your responsibility will be to take the lead to improve the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) behaviour and performance. As part of the site leadership team you will help to cultivate a culture with a strong focus on behavioural HSE.

The ABB Furse business will be moving to a new dedicated manufacturing facility early in 2025 and your role will be key in advising the HSE aspects of the move and the continuing running of the new site.

The role reports directly to the Business Unit Manager and has dotted line to the Quality & HSE EU and AMA Installation Products Division (ELIP) Manager.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Lead HSE activities and improvements together with the local leadership team.
  • Establish performance targets aligned with strategic ELIP direction in Safety and the Environment.
  • Reporting HSE incidents to the management and relevant stakeholders and taking appropriate actions.
  • Support ABB group sustainability initiatives and report progress against objectives.
  • Engaging external stakeholders (eg, customers, suppliers, relevant authorities) and internal stakeholders to report on, raise awareness of, gain commitment to and obtain objective feedback on ABB's HSE efforts and performance.
  • Cooperating with the wider ELIP HSE team – sharing and learning experiences.
Qualifications for the role
  • Health & Safety qualification – NEBOSH Diploma.
  • Degree qualification would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience of implementation/maintaining of OHSAS 18001, ISO14001 and ISO9001.
  • 3 experience years in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of current Environmental and Health and Safety legislation.
  • Strong collaboration and team working skills.
  • Ease at communicating with various stakeholders at different levels.
  • IT Literate - knowledge of standard office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
