**£396 per week, £13 per hour, and £55 per night sleep in**
I am looking for someone to join my team to support me in my home and to help enable me live a happy and independent life.
About Me
I am 32-year-old woman and I live in Cambridge in my own adapted flat. I have Cerebral Palsy and Hydrocephalus controlled by a shunt.I am very short sighted and wear glasses. I am a wheelchair user but can transfer independently onto chairs and into cars. I am articulate and friendly with an outgoing personality. I can express myself clearly to identify any needs. I like to be as independent as possible around my home.
My current carers say that working with me is a very friendly and rewarding experience. I have a busy and interesting life which you would be a part of , but I also enjoy time just chilling with my Ipad or watching DVDs. I enjoy meeting friends and my boyfriend; I also enjoy taking part in different groups.
I am a member of Safe Soulmates Steering Group and I do need some assistance in accessing these.I need help organising and remembering things. I also need somebody around overnight, sleeping in the bedroom next to mine.
I am a massive fan of theatre, especially musicals, I am a member of Bedazzle Arts which I really enjoy. I enjoy going swimming. I am also a member of Cadmus which is a sports club for people with disabilities and go to the gym weekly. I love cooking and baking. I like to try recipes from Mary Berry and Gousto.
What You Would be Doing:
You will be helping me to lead an independent life and to run my home and become part of a small team of PAs. You would need to have a clean British driving licence and be aged over 25 years old to drive my Motability car to different activities and appointments.I may need some support in arranging these appointments. I have spinal rods therefore I need some support with dressing and undressing, some assistance is required with showering and helping me to reach things. I need assistance with using my standing frame and supervision with my physiotherapy programme, you would get training in this.
I really enjoy cooking and I like to help as much as possible. I do need support with this. I like to clean my flat regularly and I need encouragement to do this and support with areas I cannot reach.
The Person I Would Like:
This post is open only to people who identify as female due to the personal care element of the job and is a genuine occupational requirement. This is in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, Part 1, Schedule 9.
I would like you to be nice, caring and gentle, and also treat me with respect and dignity in helping me to be as independent as possible and enjoy helping me access all my activities. You should also have an interest in cooking/ baking and enjoy swimming and the theatre.
You should be able to work flexible hours and be a good communicator. You would need to be a non-smoker, as my home is a smoke free zone, and I am very sensitive to the smell of cigarettes on someones clothes.I love my flat and like to keep it clean and tidy, I like all my things to be organised so I would like someone who knows how to clean, iron and be organised and help me to run my home. I like routine and dont like unexpected change.
My mum and dad are very much part of my life but they respect my need for an independent life. They are part of my team too so you would need to be able to communicate with them and my other PAs. I really enjoy spending time with my PAs and hope that we would be able to build a happy working relationship.
