Job overview

Are you a graduate Occupational Therapist looking for an opportunity to develop your skills in a hospital based rotational post?

Are you HCPC registered, or will you be imminently?

The graduate rotational scheme offers the chance to have varied clinical experiences in urgent and emergency care, acute inpatient services (including general medicine, frailty and orthopaedics), as well as stroke and general rehabilitation.

We have enthusiastic and experienced clinical teams who'll support your post graduate development, at a pace to suit your needs.

You will work closely with the team across the hospital, allowing our patients to benefit from a strong and vibrant MDT approach where patients come first in all we do. As a role model, you will influence further developments in OT across the hospital, acting as a liaison point, and contributing to the development of health and well-being across the organisation.

All new graduates will start at Band 5, if there is confirmation of the completed degree and just awaiting HCPC registration. If you have not yet received confirmation of your degree, we can commence you at Band 4.

The ability to transport yourself & equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is beneficial for this vacancy. The rotation covers both Scarborough and Bridlington Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

We offer rotations of a 6 month duration in a structured manner, to ensure you will get an opportunity to experience clinical practice in all key areas of work.

We will accept applications from qualified staff, & students who will graduate and be eligible for HCPC registration.

We are always happy to give an overview of our service and team. With the relaxation in COVID restrictions we are happy for people to visit the hospital site and have an informal chat, although we can't support shadowing opportunities on the wards.

As well as a robust local induction and probationary period provided within the Therapy team, you'll also be joining the 12-month Multi-Professional Preceptorship Program alongside other AHP and Nursing colleagues, to support you to feel part of the wider Trust.

All preceptees are also able to reclaim their first HCPC registration fee.

We are proud to offer our Multi-Professional Preceptorship Program to all newly registered practitioners. This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome you into your new teams and our Trust, providing you with support and guidance as you develop in confidence and competence whilst transitioning from student to autonomous professional.

Preceptorship lasts 12 months and you'll be assigned a preceptee who will support coach, mentor & guide you through regular meetings, alongside a program of structured learning

For more information please see documents attached or contact the Preceptorship team yhs-tr.preceptorship.nhs.net
