Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to provide leadership to our dynamic Frailty team. The primary role is to provide leadership and supervision to the Frailty therapy team, ensuring the department is providing an efficient and effective service as well as some day to day operational management.

The post carries a clinical caseload.

The post holder will have good acute and community experience in a variety of acute medical presentations and pathologies, and patients presenting with frailty syndrome. They will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to assess and discharge patients in a timely and appropriate manner with involvement and referrals to our community services.

This role also includes future opportunities to work in community settings across the Frailty pathway.

We are a very friendly, supportive team who are keen to recruit a physiotherapist who is keen to keep a varied caseload at band 7 level and who are looking to further expand their knowledge and skills. We actively encourage in-service training and recognise the value of supervision and appraisal.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/BSc Degree in Physiotherapy
  • State Registration with Health Professional Council
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MSCP) or Membership of clinical interest group

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant Experience as a Senior Physiotherapist in Elderly Care including rotations working in Medical, ITU/surgery and Orthopaedics
  • Working Knowledge of a broad range of medical conditions
  • Physiotherapist ,student and physiotherapy assistant supervision and performance management
  • Contributing to clinical education of less experienced staff/students.
  • Involvement in audit, research and service development
  • Experience working in Frailty
  • Experience working in A&E, ED, AAU, CDU.

Skills /Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Remain updated with professional practice and new research
  • Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
  • Ability to work as team member
  • Ability to communicate, educate, motivate and negotiate effectively with patients/carers
  • Able to carry out assessments of frail elderly people
Desirable criteria
  • Presentation skills / Ability to run internal courses
  • Ability to initiate and understand assessment of personal and daily activities.
  • Ability to initiate and understand assessment of personal and daily activities and care needs.
  • Able to assess for basic equipment.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of acute NHS
