Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) Business Partner

Overview:

Element has an excellent opportunity for Safety, Health and Environment Business Partner to support its Environmental business and the 10 locations across UK. As a member of the divisional leadership team, this position will partner with local management teams to support the implementation of the Element SHE program.

This position reports directly EMEAA SHE Director working closely with the Environmental Divisional Director and the EMEAA teams and will be based in North West of England. It is anticipated that this role will require frequent travel to Element locations and client sites across UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities:

Supporting divisional leadership to:

  • Integrate SHE program into daily operations
  • Understand their role and responsibilities and ensure appropriate resources are in place
  • Provide expertise, guidance and critical challenge
  • Support creation, monitor and report on progress against improvement plans
  • Coach leadership and operations teams
  • Supports documentation of annual improvement plans
  • Support local SHE Managers and focal points
  • Facilitate completion of audits and management system reviews
  • Ensure locations achieve compliance with applicable regulatory and Element SHE program requirements
  • Assess opportunities for improvement, shares best practice across Element
  • Communicate and engage effectively across all levels
  • Monitors and reports on improvement plan progress to Divisional Director and SHE Business Unit Director

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Risk Management or Occupational Safety related subject, or other related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The candidate must have a strong understanding of country/ local safety, health and environmental laws and legislation
  • Minimum experience level: 5-10 years experience with some management experience
  • Ideally candidate will have experience of construction, demolition activities and / or working with industrial site-based businesses and familiar with laboratory environments
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, design specifications, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures, statistics and amounts such as safety and health data as well as exposure limits
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must have valid Drivers License with zero or low endorsements
  • Exposure to country safety standards, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, ergonomics and environmental compliance
