Job overview

The aim of the Digital Transformation Consultant is to lead the planning and delivery of complex digital transformation programmes, projects, and consultancy assignments to support and enable the use of digital technologies and solutions.

This role sits within the Transformation Directorate, which has approximately 250 people working across a range of professional disciplines within the transformation and consultancy space. The post holder will be allocated a Career Development Manager to support them pastorally and to support them on their career journey and they will report into an Assignment Manager for each project they are assigned to.

  • Leading and motivating project teams drawn from across the SCW footprint and from multiple external partners/stakeholders
  • Ensuring effective, high quality, stakeholder management and communications in complex and politically sensitive environments
  • Regular reporting of programme and project progress to senior responsible officers, programme boards and other executive level boards
Main duties of the job
  • Leadership of digital change and transformation consultancy assignments to agreed time, quality and cost
  • Working in partnership with senior health and care stakeholders to implement government policy, often for the first time
  • Working with customers/clients to develop a digital response to their local health and care priorities
  • Provide expert subject matter advice and guidance to SCW colleagues and other stakeholders in relation to programme and project management processes and procedures and digital transformation
  • Assess opportunities, new methods, products or developments, formulating and agreeing proposals with stakeholders that will contribute to overall improvements in care, clinical and business processes via the use of digital tools and technologies.
  • Being able to navigate and operate in a complex, ever-changing environment
  • The planning, monitoring and control of programmes of work for multiple programmes and assignments using programme management methodologies e.g. MSP, relevant and scaled to the activity
  • To implement national strategy and policy, the rollout of largescale, complex change at scale, at pace
  • The planning, monitoring and control of projects and consultancy assignments using project management methodologies e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, APM, relevant and scaled to the activity

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable success in the planning and delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder Programmes.
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals.
  • Comprehensive experience of the use of project principles techniques and tools such as Prince 2 and programme management principles using Managing Successful Projects
  • Ability to manage complex budgets, involved in budget setting and working knowledge of financial processes

  • A thorough understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it

It offers the employee the ability to choose to work wherever and however they are most productive, whether it be in an office, at home, or a customer site.

Office location can be flexible within the NHS SCW estate and will be agreed upon offer of contract.

NHS SCW staff that are in posts considered to be agile will not be expected to attend office space for general working but will be required on occasions to attend face to face meetings and collaborative working sessions that may require travel to their home base or other locations across the estate or customer sites.
