A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Dietetics Department as a Band 6 Specialist Paediatric Dietitian, for 12 months fixed term/secondment. This post will give you the opportunity to specialise in both Paediatric Eating Disorders plus Level 3 Paediatric Weight Management Services, which function across Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB), and to develop cutting edge Nutrition and Dietetic services for the children and young people of North Wales.

Main duties of the job

You will work as an experienced autonomous practitioner, integrated within the teams, to provide professional dietetic expertise and intervention within the weight management & eating disorder services. You will act as a resource within the department and Health Board, providing specialist information and advice regarding children living with obesity and eating disorders.

You will also provide professional supervision and advice to band 5 Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants, and Students. You will have the opportunity to plan and implement a robust quality improvement process for nutrition in both of these paediatric services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc Nutrition and dietetics degree or equivalent
  • HCPC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Member of specialist interest group
  • Working towards MSc or evidence of research qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post registration training in specialist area, and / or evidence of CPD activity through portfolio
  • Clinical educators course
  • Member of British Dietetic Association
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of service development and ability to use own initiative
  • Advanced diploma in dietetics

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and unsupervised.
  • Ability to manage own workload.
  • Proven organisational skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good teaching, supervisory and appraisal skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Basic IT/Keyboard skills
  • Experience in working in the community /lone working.

Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of chronic disease management.
  • Knowledge of delivery of group programmes.
