Support the DTU in the coordination of prescriptions for patients due treatment by liaising with the respective clinical team Dispense all DTU prescriptions against the relevant dispensing procedures Support the investigation of safety incidence relating to pharmacy provision on the DTU including completing incident reports Participate in service audit projects as part of annual objective setting including leading quality improvement as agreed in the annual appraisal review Liaise with DTU staff to ensure pharmacy and DTU patient diary are aligned to ensure timely provision of treatment Work with the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist in coordinating and monitoring patients treated via OPAT on the DTU Support the Dispensary and Outpatient Services Manager, in the coordination and dispensing of OPAT prescriptions.

Support the department medicines supply chain strategy towards closed loop medicines administration via management of automation dispensing systems on the DTU and other outpatient areas. Provide education and training to other healthcare professionals including those external to pharmacy on the use of the automated dispensing cabinets in combination with the Pharmacy Systems Manager.
Work with the Principle Pharmacist for digital system to support implementation of e-prescribing within DTU and other outpatient areas. Contribute suggestions and ideas for improving training strategies and materials such as training packs, SOPs and quick guides Mitigate drug waste created by the day unit through medicines management and return of unused medicines or expired medicines.
Support in stock rotation of medicines at a department level Answer the telephone promptly and politely and refer queries to the appropriate person. Contribute to maintenance of the units filing system of QA paperwork Follow up outstanding items promptly.
Replenish dispensing sundries such as bottles and cartons and order stock. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness, personally, and within the dispensary areas. Act as a role model for other pharmacy assistants Support education and training of junior members of staff including pharmacy technicians, pre-registration pharmacy technicians, foundation pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.
Dispense inpatient medication, discharge prescriptions and aseptically prepared items in line with departmental SOPs ensuring that standards of quality, accuracy and timeliness are met. Working under the supervision of pharmacy technicians or pharmacists and seeking advice on any complex prescriptions before dispensing.

Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Bedfordshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as they relate to the delivery of services. Participate in the weekend, bank holiday and late night dispensary rota Maintain safe systems of work in accordance with relevant Medicines legislation and Health and Safety Legislation Participate fully in the individual performance review and objective setting process of the Trust Demonstrate a flexible attitude and be prepared to carry out other duties as may be reasonably required by the Head of Pharmacy from time to time within the general character of the post or the level of responsibility of the role.

Ensure that work is delivered in a timely and effective manner; Identify opportunities and gaps in the service and provide feedback to continually improve the service and contribute to business planning. Maintain an active CPD portfolio under supervision of the line manager ensuring an up to date knowledge of all aspects of medicine use within the specialism.

As and when required, you will work flexibly to support the Macmillan & Haematology Lead Pharmacist with administrative tasks. Support the wellbeing of staff within the department through active participation and delivery of wellbeing initiatives
