Purpose of the position

To lead & line manage the technical training team and turn requirements into deliverables across the scope of the Part147 approvals and technical delivery capability.

With exciting growth plans, the successful applicant shall have the opportunity to shape, influence and deliver existing and future NAA approved programmes, as the Technical Training Manager Form4, within a team that recognises the need to balance old and new learning methods.

Responsibilities and tasks shall include:

  • Own all Part147 processes, delegating responsibility where appropriate and ensure full compliance across the full scope of granted approvals.
  • Day to day line management, development, and resource allocation of the Technical Training Team.
  • Forecasting future capacity and capability requirements, produce detailed execution plans, Business Cases and deliver the outputs.
  • Own continuous improvement across Time, Cost & Quality of the technical delivery across all technical programmes, including working with the Workshop Manager to reduce duplication and create seamless transitions between programmes.
  • Provide technical subject matter knowledge in support of identification of customer requirements, solution generation including costing and the operational delivery plans.

Technical Competencies:

  • Able to create operational delivery plans from complex technical or regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of Safety Management Systems.
  • Identification and management of operational risks and communicating them to relevant stakeholder for awareness, support or escalation.
  • Project Management of full lifecycle, preferably in an engineering context.
  • Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and willing to learn the wider Microsoft tools (Teams, Planner, SharePoint).

Experience:

  • Management experience +2 years in an aviation engineering environment, with evidence of;
  • Management of projects with multiple requirements, dependencies, and stakeholders.
  • Leadership and line management of multidisciplinary teams >20 people.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivery of outputs against regulations including day-day, initial application and audit findings.
  • Demonstrable experience of both training and maintenance environment, capable of talking technically and commercially with customers.

Education:

  • Aviation apprenticeship with relevant aerospace industry experience.
  • Aviation degree with relevant aerospace industry experience in an MRO environment.
  • Mandatory regulatory training (HF, FTS, EWIS)
