Newcastle City Council's Children's Long Term Team is seeking a passionate and experienced Social Worker to join their dedicated team. They are committed to providing high-quality, holistic support to children with long-term needs and their families, ensuring they receive the care and resources they need to thrive.

About the Role:

As a Social Worker in our Children's Long Term Team, you will work with a caseload of children and young people with a variety of complex needs, including those with disabilities, chronic health conditions, and those in the care system. You will:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments: You will identify the child's needs and their families, identifying strengths, challenges, and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans: You will ensure tailored support is provided across different areas, including education, health, social care, and family well-being.
  • Work closely with families: You will provide guidance, support, and advocacy to navigate the complexities of their child's needs.
  • Collaborate effectively: You will work with a wide range of professionals, including health professionals, educators, and other agencies, to create a cohesive and integrated support network.
  • Ensure the child's voice is heard: You will advocate for their needs and promote their best interests, ensuring their voice is heard and their rights are protected.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records: You will adhere to relevant legislation and policies.

Who we're looking for:

They are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate Social Worker with a strong understanding of the needs of children with long-term needs and their families.

You will have:

  • A recognised social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, BSC Social Work)
  • A valid Social Work England registration
  • Significant experience working with children with complex needs and their families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and provide effective support.
  • A deep understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
  • A genuine commitment to child-centered practice and promoting the well-being of children.
