Senior Transport Planning Officer
How you'll make a difference:
As Senior Planning Officer you will support large infrastructure projects, working as part of an ambitious team with a focus on growth and delivering improvements for residents and businesses to improve sustainable transport infrastructure, support public transport, walking, cycling schemes and creating inclusive places.
South Gloucestershire has secured £100m in funding to decarbonise transport, promote public transport, walking and cycling and drive growth and productivity through investment in infrastructure.
What you will be doing:
- Taking to role of assistant project manager on some projects and working alongside the project managers, you will support infrastructure projects and manage specific work packages.
- You will support projects to improve traffic management processes for all users of the highway, to support economic growth in the area to support public transport, walking, cycling and creating inclusive places.
- Working closely with project partners, internal and external organisations, you will help achieve an ambitious work programme of major infrastructure improvements.
- Providing expert and prompt advice on subjects such as transport planning, traffic management processes, planning and other statutory processes, you will help support the development of projects through from business case development to implementation.
- You will support the Project Managers with reporting processes required by the project governance structures.
What we need from you:
- It is essential that you hold a relevant professional qualification, degree or equivalent experience of working on projects, with knowledge of project management practices and systems such as APM or Prince 2
- You will have experience of local government structures and processes and have worked with key stakeholders and partners as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- We require you to demonstrate a working knowledge of traffic management systems and transport planning processes.
- It is key that you have knowledge of UK Highway rules and regulations and understanding of the UK planning system and planning application processes and other statutory processes required for this role.
- You will have experience of transport scheme design, business case development and producing funding bids, as well as a detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- This is a hybrid role meaning that you can work remotely or in South Gloucestershire Council offices.
