We are looking for an enthusiasticRegistered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)to join our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit who is able to work effectively and dynamically in a busy and demanding setting.

Haven Male PICUis a 7 bedded male PICU that provides a high level of effective and compassionate care to men who are experiencing the most acute phase of a serious mental disorder and behavioural disturbance. Our service users may present with significant risk of harm to themselves and others, as well as vulnerability from others.

You will be supported closely by the ward manager and wider team who will provide a comprehensive induction programme for a Clinical Team Leader joining the Psychiatric Intensive Care service. In return for joining us on Haven you will become a valued member of our multi-disciplinary team and have a say in how our service develops.

Clinical Team Leaders undertake a dual clinical and leadership role; acting as a deputy for the Ward Manager. They play a key role in the day-to-day management of the ward; are a main point of contact for advice/decisions and will support, supervise and manage staff at every level.

They also assist in the delivery of local and nationally required outcomes and will often be given a lead role to manage in their own right.

PICU experience is desirable, but not essential as you will be working within an experienced multi-disciplinary team.

The team aim to; • Treat patients who are detained under the Mental Health Act using positive engagement, talking therapies (CBT/DBT) and medicines
  • Ensuring patient and their family/carers are at the centre of their recovery journey
  • Engage creatively with patients to co-produce their individual care plans
  • Prioritise both mental and physical health wellness
  • Engaging patients in doing a variety of activities both on the ward and off the ward
  • Help patients get active, eat well and take care of their own wellbeing
  • Promote freedom of choice and least restrictive practice, in a safe and therapeutic environment

You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
