Come and join our dynamic team of paediatric occupational therapists and support staff. We have an opportunity for an experienced paediatric occupational therapist to join our team as a Band 6 for 30 hours per week.

We are based at Breightmet Children's Centre and work closely with the multidisciplinary team as well as education, housing and social care.

We are a friendly and supportive team who strive to provide timely and responsive assessment and intervention to a range of service users, including developmental input for pre-school children, neonates, mainstream and special schools. We also assess for minor and major home adaptations for the children and the families of Bolton.

We are looking for a dedicated and flexible individual, with paediatric experience, and some knowledge of home adaptation interventions. The successful candidate will work autonomously to manage a diverse and complex caseload, with good support from formal and peer supervision.

A Band 5 to band 6 progression post would be considered.

  • recommendation for major adaptation, as part of the Disabled Facilities Grant process

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
  • Evidence of post graduate training/CPD in speciality area
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of professional special interest group
  • Other relevant courses to clinical area
  • Practice educators course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post-graduate paediatric Occupational Therapy experience
  • Experience of managing a caseload of clients with LD, challenging behaviours, complex needs.
  • Experience of participating in service development
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of supervising less experienced staff/pre-registration learners
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of assessing and treating patients who have barriers to communication
  • Experience of supporting learners on practice placements

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of recent NHS and trust developments and their impact on the service
  • Knowledge of SEND Reform
  • Knowledge of home adaptations
Desirable criteria
  • Development of additional knowledge through specialist training and experience

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use and apply a range of assessment and treatment techniques and approaches to the management of conditions relevant to the speciality
  • Ability to deal with complex and sensitive information and act appropriately
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst working on multiple tasks

Other

Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel between locations, which may include transporting equipment
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
