Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Cook to join our team at East Riding Community Hospital, Beverley. You will ensure that the Food Service operation produces and serves high quality food to all food consumers in accordance and full compliance with contractual requirements as agreed between Clients and the Trust

You will ensure that a high standard of food production is achieved and maintained throughout the operation, with close attention being paid to the quality of products purchased, menu variety and correct cooking practices and presentation.

We are looking for staff that are enthusiastic, motivated and have good interpersonal and communication skills to work as part of a team, and generate the provision of a high quality, cost effective food service in accordance with statutory legislation and Trust Policies regarding Health & Safety and food Hygiene.

Shifts are on a 2 week rota, with a 30 minute break:

Week 1: Wednesday 10-6pm, Friday 7-3pm

Week 2: Monday 7-3pm, Tuesday 10-6pm, Wednesday 10-6pm, Sunday 7-3pm.

Main duties of the job

You will be able to demonstrate a degree of skills in food preparation and presentation including textured diets.

The cook will prepare meals and follow establishment recipes. Duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to the restaurant menu, and following food health and safety procedures. Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver food in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Foundation certificate in Food Hygiene level 2
  • Knowledge of textured diets

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understand current Food Safety Legislation
  • Experience of the cook freeze system or prime cooking
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in Mental Health services and care homes
  • Full knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment.

Skills and Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Team player as well as being able to work on your own.
  • Well organised person.
