The Assay and Disposable Development Chapter for Roche Cobas Lumira has been newly established in our Centre of Excellence in Motherwell, Scotland. Our mission is to support assay delivery on the Lumira diagnostic platform, aligning with Roche’s overarching business goals to reach out to more patients.We aim to enhance the development cycle delivery process by fostering a deep understanding of the platform and exploring the interactions between the instrument, disposable components, and assay chemistry. The Opportunity
As part of the Assay Integration & Disposable Design team you will focus on developing a deep understanding of the diagnostic platform. Naturally curious and inquisitive, you will leverage your experience and knowledge in Engineering, Physics or Science to deliver improvements with regards to assay precision and sensitivity.You will directly influence the delivery outcome by mixing fundamental thinking with hands-on activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead innovative developments of the diagnostic platform.
- Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for strip/instrument interface and configuration development.
- Develop robust test methods using Design of Experiments and Statistical analysis.
- Design, develop and verify the micro-fluidic disposable, providing a stable platform and allowing the bio-chemistry assay to expand its performance and capabilities.
- Liaise with Operations to seamlessly transfer the product, ensuring a high level of Design for Manufacturing (DfM, Dfx) has been incorporated during the development cycle.
Who you are:
- A hands-on Development Engineer, Material Scientist or Physicist with a level of relevant industry experience in a regulated environment working to recognised quality standard(s).
- Experience working on business-critical projects ensuring all deliverables are completed within the timelines allocated.
- Degree qualified in relevant engineering or scientific discipline and/or extensive experience working in a Technical /Innovative R&D environment.
- Confidence in operating with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to laymen, peers, and stakeholders.
- Use a methodical approach to all problem solving and report progress in a structured way.
- Define critical design inputs to product and process designs.
- Determine, categorise and develop mitigation for failure modes.
Any of the following would be beneficial: CAD drawing, Prototyping, 3D printing, fluidics knowledge, python coding, capable of modifying hardware (electrical and mechanical) and using software development tool
