Are you ready to play a pivotal role in the construction of one of the UK’s most significant transport super hubs? HS2’s station construction partner, Balfour Beatty VINCI Systra Joint Venture (BBVS), is leading the charge at Old Oak Common Station – set to become one of the UK’s largest and busiest railway stations.
Assistant Package Manager – Reinforced Concrete Works
This role is ideal for a budding Engineer ready to start progressing into a Sub Agent. You will support the Package Manager in overseeing the Reinforced Concrete (RC) Works for this landmark project.
What you'll be doing- Ensure quality standards are met by monitoring subcontractors’ adherence to quality hold points and witness points.
- Maintain accurate and timely progress reporting and documentation.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractor teams, including engineers, works managers, and supervisors.
- Act as the primary on-site contact for BBVS package managers for the assigned scope of works.
- Oversee the submission and approval of package documentation, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Analyze construction sequences and programme milestones to support efficient delivery.
- Promote and ensure safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work practices.
Who we're looking for
Essential:
- Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc, MSc, or BEng) or equivalent GNVQ.
- CSCS qualification and eligibility to work in the UK.
- Proven experience in major civils/infrastructure projects, including reinforced concrete works.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and subcontractor management.
- Ability to report clear, reliable information and monitor subcontractor performance.
Desirable:
- SMSTS or PTS certification and professional membership (e.g., ICE).
- Experience with multidisciplinary interfaces, NEC3 contracts, and document control systems (e.g., BC, eB, CEMAR).
- Familiarity with civils works, drainage, precast, and cast-in RC, as well as Network Rail and TFL interfaces.
