The Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI) in the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM) are recruiting a Financial & Administrative Programme Officer to support the Africa Pandemic Sciences Collaborative, a high-profile initiative delivered in partnership with Science for Africa (SFA) Foundation, based in Nairobi, and Mastercard Foundation.
This is a new position, and you will be a critical member of the team, undertaking largely financial but also some programmatic activities. You will serve as the primary finance specialist under the guidance of the Senior Programme Manager, playing a pivotal role in the smooth financial and programmatic management of the Collaborative.Your key responsibilities will include reviewing and preparing financial reports, maintaining financial trackers, and monitoring expenditure across up to 40 institutions, largely in Africa. You will produce forecasts and budgets for Mastercard Foundation and for University staff, and, contribute to the management of financial risks, and to preparations for audits and inspctions.
Programmatic work will include supporting international travel and the management of programmatic trackers and documents. The role will involve liaising with senior finance stakeholders across the University and at SFA Foundation. You will be required to undertake occasional travel overseas, mostly to Africa, for meetings and events.
To be sucessful in this role, you should hold an AAT qualification or equivalent. The role requires expertise in financial processes such as general ledger accounting, accruals, and cashflow forecasting, alongside a proven ability to produce accurate and high-quality financial reports.Strong interpersonal and communication skills are important, as is experience working in an international and/ormultidisciplinary team. You should demonstrate a systematic and organised approach to work, with good problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively while anticipating and meeting the needs of diverse stakeholders.
Experience working with colleagues or collaborators in resource-constrained settings would be beneficial.
