As a senior member of our dynamic team, you will oversee our Infrastructure and Database services and lead a diverse team of experts, ensuring all aspects of the infrastructure operates efficiently and within tolerance levels - 365 days a year.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Manager for Infrastructure and Hosting will be accountable for ensuring:

  • That vision and leadership for the Trust’s Platforms and Databases are set in a complex computing environment consisting of many and varied teams with diverse needs.
  • That appropriate strategies for meeting these complex needs are established, including investigation and recommendations for new technologies to improve efficiencies in service provision.
  • Effective ownership of the Trust’s paltform services.
  • Provision of a cohesive service which appears seamless to the end user through collaborative design, implementation, and maintenance of an intelligent digital service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to a minimum of Master’s degree level, or equivalent post graduate qualification or equivalent level of experience within a senior Digital Operations role
  • Degree level or equivalent qualification specifically in IT/Informatics
  • ITIL 3 / 4 practitioner or higher
  • Evidence of management development through Continuous Professional Development and/or formal management course
  • Relevant certifications using DCIM tools and software for monitoring and managing datacentre infrastructure, such as Schneider Electric StruxureWare, Nlyte, Sunbird DCIM or similar
Desirable criteria
  • IT Service Management (ITSM) certifications
  • ITIL 3 / 4 practitioner or higher
  • Relevant certifications in Cloud Services such as DEE-2T13 Expert – Cloud Architect, Cloud Services or similar
  • Relevant certifications in datacentre management, such as Certified Datacentre Management Professional (CDCMP), Certified Datacentre Facilities Operations Manager (CDCFOM), Datacentre Certified Associate (DCCA) or similar

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable experience of technical leadership in IT Lifecycling e.g., Agile ALM
  • Experience in implementing and managing disaster recovery strategies and business continuity plans for datacentre operations. Knowledge of backup and replication technologies, data replication methodologies, and recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) is essential.
  • Experience in implementing and administering DCIM solutions within datacentre environments. This includes experience with configuring and customizing the DCIM software, setting up monitoring and reporting capabilities, and integrating the solution with other datacentre management tools.
  • Experience in managing and overseeing day-to-day datacentre operations. This includes experience in monitoring and managing critical infrastructure components, ensuring uptime and availability, implementing maintenance and security protocols, and optimizing datacentre efficiency.
  • Experience of managing a variety of stakeholders with conflicting agendas
  • Experience of conducting negotiations relating to highly complex matters both internal and external to the organisation
  • Significant experience of developing and implementing technology processes and procedures and delivering transformational change in Digital Operations
  • Experience of implementing relevant tools, techniques and models for reporting, capacity planning, and prioritisation
  • Experience of managing resources and budgets
  • Experience of preparing and presenting reports of complex, sensitive or contentious information at senior forums
  • Proven track record of leadership
  • Evidence of developing teams/others
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering complex targets and objectives to tight deadlines
  • Experience of motivating and inspiring staff managed directly and indirectly to work together to achieve a common objective

  • Significant relevant experience of Senior NHS Management including line management responsibility for teams
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge and experience of managing Digital Operations acquired over a significant period

  • Significant knowledge and understanding of the NHS, including the political, strategic and operational environment in which it operates
