Please be aware, the interview will be a Interview Morning session that will involve a 20 question basic numeracy & Literacy test within a time limit. The session needs to be attended in person and cannot be facilitated virtually.

Main duties of the job

You will assist the Trust to maintain high standards of cleanliness on the wards and departments and be expected to deliver a quality cleaning service throughout the hospital in various areas from Theatres, to ward areas or public areas such as corridors & public toilets working alongside our clinical and other non-clinical colleagues to make a positive contribution to our patients and staff experience.
The Housekeeping team deliver housekeeping services 247 within the Trust and you should possess excellent people skills, have a good command of both spoken and written English, and an ability to communicate well with others. You should be an enthusiastic team player with a positive "can-do" attitude.

You will be hard working, committed person with a keen eye for detail and a fully flexible approach towards your work.

Part Time Positions on this advert are as follows

1 x 16:00-22:00 Monday-Friday 30 hours per week

1 x 17:00-22:00 Monday -Friday 25 hours per week

2 x 17:00-21:00 Monday-Friday 20 hours per week

1 x 16:30-20:00 Monday-Friday 17.5 hours per week

3 x 17:00-20:00 Monday-Friday 15 hours per week

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to or working towards NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Skills
  • Level 1 in IT

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of cleaning in a Healthcare Environment
  • Knowledge of health & safety in the workplace
  • Understanding of infection control
  • Previous knowledge of COSHH

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and service users
  • Good organisational skills
  • Educated to basic entrance level in English literacy and numeracy
  • Able to operate and manipulate mechanical cleaning machines
  • Able to tolerate exposure to unpleasant working conditions and bodily fluids

In submitting an application form, you authorise Kettering General Hospital (KGH) NHS Foundation Trust to confirm any previous NHS service details via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) process. Including factual reference, occupational health clearance and statutory and mandatory training record.

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16.

New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.

Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
