About the role

We are seeking a purpose-driven Innovation Account Executive to join our vibrant Commercial team who is passionate about building relationships and has a knack for spotting new opportunities for a broad range of start-ups in the climate-tech/sustainability sector.

A typical day for this new role could include creating and sending emails, having conversations with startups, maintaining the CRM, prospecting on LinkedIn, reporting on campaign performance, and attending events.

The Innovation Account Executive will be an integral part of the Commercial team, supporting the Head of Startup Innovation with driving revenue growth and managing a pipeline of opportunities. The core focus of this role is on inbound and outbound sales activities for the services we offer and you will be required to work closely with the design, R&D, and grants business units under the Commercial team.

Being comfortable in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and with the ability to work under pressure will be key to the success of this role.

Requirements

Your key responsibilities
  • Dealflow management via Pipedrive, converting leads to deals and pushing deals down the funnel
  • Scout startups by attending and networking at industry events
  • Consultative sales - understand customer needs and scope tailored solutions
  • Run innovation roadmap planning sessions with startups, referring them to relevant internal teams and trusted suppliers, including professional services partners
  • Prepare proposals, manage contracts, and lead negotiations to deal closure
  • Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with startups, fostering trust and positioning the company as a long term innovation partner
  • Collaborate with our wider internal teams, to deliver high-quality growth solutions to clients.
We expect you to have
  • 2-4 years relevant experience in similar roles
  • Knowledge of CRM and outreach platforms such as Pipedrive, Apollo and LinkedIn, or similar
  • Demonstrable B2B sales experience, ideally within professional services
  • Driven and motivated by achieving targets
  • Confidence in making outbound calls and writing emails
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated
Desirable
  • Experience of working in climate or sustainability related sectors
  • Motivation to learn about other Sustainable Ventures functions, for example investment, product design and venture development

  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Flexible working (with minimum 3 days in the office)
  • Remuneration: £28,808 - £33,808 per annum plus bonus
  • Based: London or Cambridge - the role will also involve regular, weekly travel between our two sites
