Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Support Worker to work within a friendly and inclusive special educational needs (SEN) school, supporting children with autism. This role will involve providing direct one-to-one assistance to help students access the curriculum, manage their daily routines, and build their social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one with students with autism, adapting to their unique needs and providing individualised support
- Assist students in managing routines and transitions throughout the school day
- Implement behaviour support strategies in line with the school’s policies to create a calm, productive environment
- Support the development of students' social and communication skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and SEN staff to align with students’ individual education plans (IEPs)
- Offer emotional support and guidance to help students build confidence and resilience
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience working with children with autism in a school or similar setting
- Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorder and behaviour management techniques
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to support each child’s growth
- Relevant qualifications in SEN support or childcare are advantageous
