GP Receptionist/Care Navigator

JOB SUMMARYIt is the duty of each receptionist to assist the smooth running of the Practice in general, and the Reception area in particular, and to project a positive and friendly image to our patients and other professionals who may contact us either in person or via telephone PRINCIPLE DUTIES 1.
Answering all incoming telephone calls. Diverting them as appropriate. And/or taking and passing on messages. 2. Dealing with all telephone queries/requests from patients efficiently, courteously and confidentially, and acting as liaison with the Doctors as necessary.
3. Liaise with hospital on behalf of GPs or patients. 4. Making appointments via the computerised system either on the day or in advance. 5. Greeting patients at reception, noting their arrival and dealing with any query or request as appropriate.
6. Scanning and coding medical information as necessary. 7. Managing the flow of patients at the desk and in the waiting room. 8. Processing prescriptions requests, passing them onto doctors for signing and filing for collection within the 48 hours specified by the practice.
Dealing with any prompts on the EMIS Web system whilst doing so including medication reviews due. 9. Check Withnell health centre email for prescriptions requests/queries and deal with as appropriate 10. Preparing Doctors surgeries/closing down Doctors surgeries.
11. Taking visit requests. 12. Take samples at reception desk completing Pathology forms if necessary. 13. Open Building first thing in a morning including unlocking internal doors, switching on all computers or the opposite in the evening Administration Duties 1.
Filing patient records and correspondence when necessary. 2. Registering new patients onto EMIS system using SMART card to connect to spine. 3. Open Mail 4. Action any workflow tasks on EMIS Web 5. Telephone patients regarding results 6. To send letters to patients as necessary to call for checks up or inform them of things when unable to contact by telephone.
7. Photocopying of notes and other information. 8. Faxing/Emailing information when authorised to do so i.e. medication information to hospital. 9. Changing details on notes, i.e. change of address. 10. Recording and informing others about RIP patients.

11. To ensure clinical staff receive medical records as requested. 12. Scanning of patients information onto clinical system, readcoding, actioning and then directing any appropriate mail to GP or Nurse. 13. Order items when necessary or inform relevant person when items need ordering i.e. path lab forms, urine pots.
