Software Test Engineer

Location: Glasgow (Full-time preferred, hybrid options available)
Clearance Requirement: Sole UK National, SC Clearable
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute software test cases to verify system requirements, ensuring full test coverage.
- Set up and manage test environments for hardware and software integration, supporting complex system validation.
- Plan and conduct software test campaigns, integrating real hardware with simulation and emulation tools.
- Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, reports, compliance records, and fault logs.
- Perform manual and automated testing in Linux and Windows environments, ensuring software reliability.
- Investigate and report defects, providing clear reproduction steps and root cause analysis to engineering teams.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in software test engineering, preferably in defence, aerospace, or complex safety-critical systems.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field or a UK military technical background.
- Strong knowledge of black-box and white-box testing methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with real-time embedded systems and software/hardware version control.
- Proficiency in test case generation, metrics tracking, and compliance verification.
- Experience using DOORS for requirements management and test case linking.
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD environments.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of IEC-61508 or DO-178C standards for software testing in safety-critical environments.
- Experience in automated test scripting and Agile/Waterfall methodologies.
- Background in software development, particularly in C, C++, or Python.
