An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Service Manager within the Community Mental Health Services for Reading, based between our sites at Prospect Park Hospital and Reading University. The role will consist of managing the Mental Health Integrated Community Service (MHICS) and the Short Term Team (STT) to provide an At Place offer to those accessing MH services in the Reading area

Reading is a vibrant and diverse town situated to the West of London. It has all the bustle one would want from a large urban conurbation and the tranquillity afforded by the Thames and the surrounding countryside.
  • The post holder will be part of the senior operational management team within the Reading community based MH service and will take a lead role in developing the ‘At Place’ offer and implementing the ‘One Team’ approach.
  • The post holder will work alongside colleagues in delivering high quality services for adults with severe and enduring mental illness. They will help provide leadership and direction in developing the capabilities of the team, with a focus on maintaining performance within the team across all areas of performance monitoring.
  • Applicants will need to be enthusiastic and able to work flexibly and reliably to provide clinical and leadership support for the At Place Team in order to contribute to the delivery of outstanding care to our patients.
  • Applicants should have the ability to think calmly and logically under pressure and have a positive attitude to maintaining high standards of work at all times, and able to demonstrate excellent communication skills. You will be quick to adapt to new situations, be able to work as part of a team but also possess the ability to work unsupervised, using your own initiative.
  • Strong organisation skills are essential as you will be responsible for arranging the daily operation of our At Place services working alongside the multi-disciplinary team

The “must haves” for this role:

  1. Degree in relevant health/social care or equivalent qualification
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience working in a community mental health team setting at band 7 or above.
  3. Evidence of CPD and relevant training.
  4. Experience in managing serious incidents and situations concerning safeguarding, risk management, complaints and formal investigations.
