placeNelson calendar_month

Your new company

Join a growing Trust based in Nelson, East Lancashire, in this newly created role of Financial Controller, with part-time hours of 22h per week over 3 days, or with the flexibility to choose a working arrangement that suits you. Reporting to the CFO, you will be a key part of the planned expansion of the Trust, an integral part of a small finance team, in a changing, growing sector.

Your new role

As a Part-Time Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in strengthening financial operations and management accounting. You will work closely with the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to support transitions in the organisation. Your responsibilities will include developing the financial control framework, leading the monthly close, and overseeing all aspects of financial reporting.

You will also line manage the finance team and oversee their development.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you must hold a professional accountancy qualification such as ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA. A thorough and up-to-date understanding of accountancy principles and professional codes of practice is essential, along with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data analysis capabilities.
Previous experience in a financial role within an educational setting would be advantageous but is not essential. You should be a proactive problem-solver with excellent organisational skills, able to effectively prioritise and manage conflicting deadlines under pressure.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with a diverse range of stakeholders are key elements of this role.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will receive a salary ranging from £55K - £60K (part-time equivalent is £32.5K - £35K) and benefits that include 26 days' annual leave (pro rata), increasing with length of service, plus a generous pension scheme. The organisation is committed to flexible working, offering a mix of home and office-based hours as appropriate, with the office based in Nelson.

You will be part of a supportive team that promotes a warm and friendly atmosphere, with colleagues who are committed to collaboration and achieving better outcomes for all. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of the central finance team in a growing organisation.
