Job Title: Facilities Manager
Location: Ellis Guilford School
Salary: Grade H, £40,777 to £45,091
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: 37 hours per week between the hours of 5.30am and 8.00pm, 52 weeks per year

About Our School:

The Ellis Guilford School is a growing and thriving, larger than average, Secondary School with a clear mission ‘to ensure that the children attending our school have a better chance of success than if they attended any other school’. We deliver a broad curriculum, including emphasis on the creative subjects, to support our children to become confident, independent and balanced individuals, allowing them to excel.

Graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2023, Ellis Guilford School is at an extremely exciting point in its development journey. We strive for ‘EGScellence’ in all that we do!

About the Facilities Department:

Our Facilities team plays a vital role in the effective day‑to‑day operation of Ellis Guilford School. The team works proactively with the wider school team to maintain a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors.
The team is well supported by the school, the wider trust, including guidance and oversight from the Principal, Miss Johnson, and Regional Facilities Manager. On site, the Facilities Manager is supported by an Assistant Facilities Manager and two further full‑time team members, ensuring strong operational capacity and a collaborative approach.

Together, the team is committed to maintaining high standards across the school estate to support teaching, learning, and the wider life of the school.

About You

You will have experience of managing staff and external contractors within a facilities or estates environment, with the ability to coordinate day‑to‑day operations effectively. You will also have experience of managing physical resources, ensuring value for money while maintaining high standards across buildings and grounds.

You will bring strong organisation, communication, and problem‑solving skills, and be confident using IT systems to plan, monitor, and record facilities activity accurately. You will be detail‑focused, calm, and professional, able to respond flexibly to competing priorities and service demands.

You will work well under pressure, approach issues in a practical and solution‑focused way, and understand the importance of health and safety, compliance, and confidentiality in a school environment. Above all, you will be proactive, approachable, and committed to providing a safe, well‑maintained environment that supports children, staff, and the wider school community.
