Job Title: Operations Support Engineering Manager
Reporting to: Senior Services Manager

Level: L5

Responsibilities:

The Operations Support Engineering Manager is a leadership role at Liberty IT and manages the Operations SUpport Engineering team who support, maintain and optimise Liberty IT’s employee and office experience. The Operations Support Engineering Manager has responsibilities across the following areas

People
  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and trusting environment that supports all team members and full team engagement. Foster close cooperation and communication to facilitate cross-training and team support.
  • Provide day to day coaching to team members across a multi-site Operations Support team.
  • Provide regular, ongoing feedback to team members and input on individual/team performance to the Senior Operations Manager.
  • Participate in and support recruitment, selection, and onboarding activities of new team members.
  • Identify and co-ordinate the growth of new capabilities in your teams.
  • Encourage your team members to achieve their potential by participating in and contribute to organisation wide initiatives.
  • Continuously develop your skills and knowledge.
  • Share knowledge and expertise across your team, the wider organization or beyond through networks, events and communities of practice.
  • Manage day to day operations, requests and expense management for the team.
Operational Excellence
  • Co-ordinate Operational Excellence reviews of the following to ensure the Liberty IT offering is best in class
  • Desktop and device hardware and software;
  • Liberty IT office environments;
  • Digital communications and connectivity tools and software for different meeting experiences (virtual, hybrid, in-person)
  • Generate and present regular reports and reviews of all operations and services provided by your team and use this data to drive improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate Liberty IT delivering their energy efficiency targets through identification and implementation of best practice initiatives in this area.
  • Objectively assess adherence to the operational goals defined in your team’s High-Performance framework and work with teams to ensure a team optimisation plan is in place.
  • Implement a facilities management program including preventative maintenance, life-cycle requirements and facility services (cleaning, security etc.) across all Liberty IT sites.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance of all Liberty IT sites and in the activities your team undertakes.
  • Manage occupancy and space management through areas such as ensuring physical support of our events and room set-ups is provided (and advised on), managing capacity within the office space and actioning access pass requests.
  • Respond to facility and equipment alarms, system failures, provide a prompt response in line with agreed SLAs
  • Ensure value is delivered through adoption and application of techniques established in Liberty IT operational standards.
Delivery Excellence
  • Focus on regular, timely delivery of business value and management of business expectations.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of on-site, hybrid, and remote events, by guiding your team through implementation, maintenance and support of AV and digital communications (Zoom, MS Teams) tools and technologies.
  • Oversee delivery and coach the team; facilitate transparency, inspection and adaption.
  • Guide the team on how to use the relevant agile practices and methodology based on the context of the situation with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
  • Manage interdependencies in your deliveries (desktop software and hardware, office environment, digital communications tools).
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to support short and long-term planning and to prioritise deliverables on an ongoing basis.
  • Define team objectives and oversee delivery against these and team KPI’s, hold the team accountable for achieving, taking required action to drive team performance.
  • Anticipate and address potential or actual impediments to team delivery.
  • Build superior solutions which add business value based on an in-depth understanding of Liberty IT organisation and employee needs and appreciation of market demand.

Essential Criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in providing leadership to a multi-disciplinary team providing support to hardware, software and office environments in a large (300+ employee) business
  • People management experience and conducting activities such as one to ones and development conversations.
  • Strong knowledge of IT concepts, methodologies, architectures and technical standards, ideally gained in an enterprise technical environment.
  • In depth knowledge of and proven experience of working in agile environments.
  • Experience in building strong customer / business partner relationships.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead technology and office environment projects and to effectively create a high-performing team environment.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvement to generate efficiencies, effectiveness and cost savings.
  • Ability to spend a minimum of one working day per month in each of Liberty IT’s sites, in addition to working in-office in your office of employment
