The Opportunity:
We are seeking a self-motivated, confident Sales Manager to lead sales on one of our flagship events, IRX. Managing a sales executive, you will take charge of delivering the sales plan and ensuring that achieve target revenue of the event. The event operates in a rapidly changing market, and the successful candidate will be one who relishes spotting new opportunities and seeking out new business, whilst ensuring that the needs of our long-term clients are met.
You will be managing a sales executive, but previous management experience is not essential. To be successful in this role you will be a naturally effective and engaging communicator getting the benefits of our products across to clients succinctly, additionally you will have a thorough understanding of the sales process within a sponsorship and exhibitions context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meeting (and exceeding!) event revenue targets by delivering and refining the agreed sales plan
- Managing one sales executive, supporting their day-to-day activities, helping them achieve their sales target and being responsible for on-the-job training.
- Creating the sales plan and delivering the plan through the course of the campaign
- Using Salesforce to create accurate reports that support sales forecasts
- Meeting personal sales targets selling to repeat, lapsed and new customers
- Sell a range of products ranging from high value sponsorships to shell scheme stands, dinners and webinars
- Providing accurate forecasts for both you and your sales executive’s sales.
- Managing your clients onsite at the events to ensure that they have the best possible outcomes
- Attending competitive industry events to prospect for new business, meet existing clients and gain market / competitor knowledge
- Meet key clients face to face to develop strong relationships, understand their needs and how these can be achieved through our events
- Taking part in project meetings and providing input to help improve outcomes for all stakeholders in the event.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours:
- Demonstrable success in a previous sponsorship and exhibition sales role
- Utilises CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) to their full ability to drive sales, planning and reporting
- Excels in face-to-face and phone selling, presenting products and their benefits to clients.
- Confident in generating new business leads from cold calling, personal research and industry networking.
- Excellent communication skills and telephone manner with the ability create engaging proposals that meet prospects needs.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of the sales process
- Ability to coach and support more junior members of staff – you will be managing a sales executive and whilst you don’t have to have managed before, you need to demonstrate some often skills required.
- Highly motivated, ambitious, and constantly striving for excellence and success.
- Customer focused and understands how to build and maintain relationships (both for account management and up-selling purposes).
- Works well within a team and relishes being part of the sales team delivering excellent outcomes for your customers.
