Job overview

We are looking for a band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our innovative team at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, based in Harlow, Essex, United Kingdom. We provide ongoing care to a broad range of patients, ranging from those who are critically unwell, to those who need minimal rehabilitation or assessment and advice.

You will be responsible for providing a high standard of assessment, advice, treatment and evaluation of patients referred to the acute Inpatient Occupational Therapy Service.

In return, you will be supported in your efforts to build on your previous experience to further develop your clinical competencies and leadership skills.

This is a part time role of 18.75 hours per week. It is based within our medical OT team.

Main duties of the job

To provide an Occupational Therapy Service for Acute Inpatients at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Take responsibility for a specified caseload undertaking assessment, treatment, and evaluation of patients referred to the service

To work as part of a Multi-disciplinary/Agency team

Work as an autonomous professional according to College of Occupational Therapy ‘Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct’ and the ‘Health Professions Council Regulations’

Actively participate in Continuing Professional Development and contribute to the development of in-service training

Work under the indirect supervision of the senior occupational therapist and carry out clinical and administrative duties.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc / MSc in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Member of RCOT

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Evidence of continuous practice development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Range of clinical student placements
  • Placements across acute and community
  • Good understanding of a wide range of medical conditions
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working as a qualified OT
