Sellick Partnership is pleased to be recruiting for a locum Principal Litigation Lawyer on behalf of a well-established London Local Authority.
The council is offering an initial 3-month contract however, this is pending permanent recruitment so has a likelihood of being extended. The role is full-time across 5 days per week, and the successful candidate will be required to attend the office up to a couple of times per week.
This role will be the perfect opportunity for someone with a background in managing a team as well as strong civil or criminal litigation experience. This position could also provide opportunity to progress into management and oversee the work of a team of junior litigation lawyers.
The duties of the successful Principal Litigation Lawyer role will include:
- Act as the principal source of expertise in respect of the law relating to all matters of litigation
- Deal with the Council's most complex legal matters
- Facilitate the provision of training to team members
- Responsible for the provision of advocacy
- Case management of all matters and supervision where necessary
Experience required for the Principal Litigation Lawyer role:
- Knowledge and experience of conducting civil and/or criminal litigation
- Advocacy experience in civil and/or criminal litigation
- Experience of advising in a local government or similar environment
- Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
