Project Manager - AV & Technical Production Manager
Ideally to start working on the project from January (6 months – January to June)
Overview
As the AV & Technical Production Manager, you will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and oversight of all technical aspects of the live events, corporate functions and conferences related to a major summit in Europe. You will manage technical suppliers, coordinate with clients, vendors and internal departments to ensure seamless delivery of exceptional audio-visual experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Production
  • Collaborate with clients and internal Project Managers to understand their vision and requirements for the event.
  • Develop detailed technical production plans, including equipment lists, staffing requirements and timelines.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop a detailed technical production budget that aligns with the client's needs.
  • Source and procure AV and other technical equipment via suppliers, including audio, video, lighting and staging for each event.
  • Support the Project Manager in the accurate production of floor plans for event setups and flag any planning issues as appropriate.
  • Support the Project Manager in the production of detailed risk assessments.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of custom AV solutions, as needed.
  • Produce screen content graphics and technical scripts in accordance with the branding needs for the event, as instructed by the Project Manager. Brief the on-site technical teams on their successful implementation for live events.
  • Coordinate with venue staff to ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with AV suppliers in pre-show checks to verify all systems are functioning correctly.
  • Production
  • Monitor technical operations during the event, troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
  • Coordinate with stage managers, directors, presenters, speakers, and artists to ensure smooth transitions and timing.
  • Manage live broadcasts, webcasts, and virtual event production, as required.
  • Post-Production
  • Evaluate the success of the event and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the technical aspects of the event.
  • Assist with invoicing and budgeting post-event.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience as an AV & Technical Production Manager or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of audio, video, lighting, and staging equipment.
  • Understanding of safety regulations for technical production on events.
  • Experience with live streaming and virtual events.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Additional Considerations
  • Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of AV technology and the ability to operate and troubleshoot technical equipment.
  • Event Management Skills: The ability to oversee the entire event lifecycle, manage budgets, coordinate with vendors, and lead teams.
  • Adaptability: The ability to respond to unexpected technical challenges and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring that every technical detail is considered and implemented.
  • HTML/coding experience
By combining technical expertise with strong event management skills, you can deliver seamless and impactful events. This is a fixed-term role, starting January 1st and ending June 30th 2025. We are open to exploring the number of days a week worked and could consider 3 days a week until May, and May-June 5 days a week.

Again, this can be discussed. Salary will be in the range of £20-25k depending on experience for the 6 month period.

Location: Hybrid remote in Cardiff. Candidates should be able to commute to Cardiff or plan to relocate before starting work.
