The Position

The Women’s Physiotherapist will significantly impact the development of the most able female cricketers in the county. Reporting to the Medical Services Lead, the successful candidate in the role of Women’s Physiotherapist will be a key member of the Science & Medicine team, providing physiotherapy services across the Surrey Women’s Academy and First Team squads.

The successful candidate will demonstrate high levels of clinical skills and ideally have experience working in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in an elite sporting environment. Registration with the HCPC and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists is essential.

Your place of work will be at the Kia Oval but you will be required to work across venues throughout the county. The post holder will be expected to work evenings, weekends and possibly Bank Holidays. This role will also require regular travel throughout the U.K during the Cricket season.

Requirements

What you’ll do
  • To work with the Medical Services Lead to provide high quality physiotherapy to the academy and senior squad when needed.
  • To work collaboratively with the rest of the MDT.
  • To work with the wider MDT support player performance and associated development goals.
  • To lead and champion local and ECB led clinical/performance/research projects.
  • To work collaboratively with the CMO to ensure high standards of medical governance and processes, including a clear wellbeing pathway and medical screening and profiling.
  • Communicate non-confidential headline availability and fitness status information for matchday selection.
  • Ensure medical record keeping standards are maintained at a satisfactory level as per HCPC guidelines and are entered on to the ECB’s injury Management Database.
  • To work collaboratively with ECB staff to co-manage international pathway players.
  • To actively participate in the Women’s Science and Medicine Review process.

The Person

The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:

Essential:

  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP)
  • Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working independently as a qualified physiotherapist with experience musculoskeletal physiotherapy
  • Full Driving License is a mandatory requirement
  • Current advanced trauma management and emergency care accreditation (or ability to complete this in the near future if successful)
  • High standards of personal and professional integrity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working with elite athletes / teams including touring with high performance squads.
  • Experience working with youth / developmental athletes in a sporting environment.

The post holder will be expected to work evenings and weekends as well as have flexibility to dovetail working arrangements in with fixture and training schedules that will change from year to year and across each season.
