Sense Education is working in partnership with a welcoming specialist school in Leeds to recruit an enthusiastic SEN Teacher. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a nurturing and well-resourced environment where every child's wellbeing and development are prioritised.

The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needs.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.
- Lead and work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and other professionals.
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches where needed.
- Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, communication, and social development.
- Build positive relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure consistent support.
- Manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies and a nurturing approach.
- Create stimulating learning experiences that encourage confidence, curiosity, and achievement.
About You
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Has experience working with children with SEND, particularly ASD and/or SEMH needs.
- Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
- Can lead a small class and adapt teaching to meet a range of learning styles and needs.
- Brings creativity, patience, and resilience to the classroom.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
- Wants to make a genuine impact within a specialist educational setting.
- Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm
- Term time only
- Location - Leeds

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is central to everything we do. All applicants will be subject to our safer recruitment procedures, including enhanced DBS and reference checks.
A current Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the DBS Update Service is desirable. If you do not have an active subscription, a new DBS application may be required as part of the registration process.
If employed through Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis. All quoted pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
This position is initially offered on a long-term temporary basis, with the potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate.
