Job overview

This role is part of the Finance team of NHS Devon Integrated Care Board supporting a wide range of services within the Community and Mental Health portfolio. We provide a high level of professionalism, assisting the organisation in commissioning health services and ensuring objectives are delivered with the interest of patients at the centre.

We are looking for an ambitious Finance Assistant to join the team, working closely with colleagues to provide financial support and information. This role represents an excellent opportunity to develop management accounting skills within a large and complex organisation.

NHS Devon is supportive of those studying for accountancy qualifications.

If you are an individual who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, with good communication skills you would be a great asset to our team.

Eligibility to Work in the UK – Important Information

NHS Devon does not currently hold a sponsorship license to support visa applications. We have been able to successfully meet our recruitment needs without the requirement for visa sponsorship. As such, we are only able to consider applications from candidates who already have the appropriate legal right to work in the UK at the time of application.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce and welcome applications from all qualified individuals who meet this requirement. Thank you for your understanding.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will work closely with the wider finance team on invoicing and key aspects of the financial month-end process. Liaising regularly with providers, addressing their queries and maintaining effective communication channels.

You will support the Management Accountant in maintaining and monitoring income and expenditure for specific commissioned services through the financial system. This includes supporting the creation of ad-hoc financial reports for internal management decision-making and external reporting.

Your contributions will be vital for providing accurate and timely financial information.

Additionally, you will assist with the production of monthly financial management information within the Community and Mental Health Services team and providing support for our month end process including monitoring spend and preparing/uploading journals.

The nature of this area means handling all ad-hoc work and queries as required.

We have a hybrid working arrangement, so the successful candidate will work between home and our Exeter office, where staff are expected to attend at least one day a week.
